An IIS Application Pool (AppPool) is a collection of URLs or Web applications that run within a common memory space, share threads, and run under a common security context on an IIS server. Multiple application pools allow different web sites or web applications to run independently and also prevent them from interfering with one another. This also permits applications that need limited security permissions from having more access than they need.
We strongly recommend that you create a dedicated application pool for Ithicos software. Some features, such as uploading photos or writing to the text logs won't even work if you don't modify the default application pool to run using the Network Service identity.
To create an application pool called IthicosAppPool on a W2K8 server, follow these steps:
This application pool can be used for all of Ithicos Solutions applications. You don't need a separate AppPool for each application in most circumstances.
The application pool you create can be used for all Ithicos Solutions products. It is easy to change a Web application to another application pool. Here is an example for the Directory Manager application.
