Simplify account creation using of standard user templates
User account creation is most definitely a repetitive task that can be delegated to non-admin users if done properly. In larger organizations, it can even be automated and tied to human resource systems. However, in small-to-medium sized businesses user account creation usually remains a function of the system administrator.
In most organizations, “types” of users are usually created that all share a common set of characteristics such as group membership, department name, address, home folder, location, Microsoft 365 subscription type, title, etc… Neither Microsoft’s Active Directory nor even Entra ID cloud tools provide the ability to create users based on a type or category.
Ithicos’ Directory Manager Advanced web-based Active Directory management tool allows you to define user templates for different types of users. An authorized end user can create user accounts using an easy-to-use wizard that allows the authorized user to select the user type from a template. Group membership and other attributes are automatically set based on information from the template.
This feature allows a system administrator to delegate user account creation and management to a non-admin user such as someone from Human Resources or a trusted administrative assistant.
