Provide a web interface to manage Exchange mail groups

If you have moved to Microsoft 365 Exchange Online but still manage your email distribution lists in your on-premises Active Directory, you will have found that users can no longer manage the mail-enabled groups that they own through Outlook.

Directory Update provides an easy to use web-based interface that allows a user to see the distribution lists that they have been assigned as a manager through the Exchange Management Console. The user must have been assigned directly as a primary or secondary manager; we do not enumerate Active Directory permissions.

Managing Exchange mail groups

This feature is most effective for single Active Directory domain organizations that are using Exchange hybrid mode and replicate their on-premises Active Directory mail groups to Microsoft Entra ID. This feature does work if you still use on-premises Exchange.
