Verifying user identity with challenge questions
An ever-increasing cyber security challenge is validating your user’s identity when they call your help desk. Even telephone caller id cannot be trusted. Our Directory Update and Directory Manager products provide a unique solution to this challenge. Directory Update provides the web-based user interface for a user to answer security questions or set up a smart-phone based authenticator.
Your authorized help desk users will be able to see some of the questions but they cannot see the user’s answers to those questions. The user must provide the help desk technician with the answers to the questions. The system administrator can customize the questions to be appropriate for your user community. Remind users when they answer the questions that they will be asked to provide those answers to the help desk if they need to verify their identity.
Setting up this verification challenge feature requires setting up the Directory Update software and then setting up Directory Manager.
